Artistic Director Priti Gosar-Patil
Kalāsattva blossoms under the vision of its founder and Artistic Director, Smt. Priti Gosar-Patil — an elegant artiste, inspired choreographer, and devoted teacher who bridges cultures and hearts. She shares the timeless beauty of Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form with spiritual roots, kept vibrant through a living tradition; where pure dance unfolds in precise geometrical lines, while the face becomes a canvas for expressions that speak without words.
Priti offers regular classes in Richmond. 25 of her students have presented "Full Margam Recital" or "Arangetram" or Debut Performances.
She has taught Master-class at the VCU Dance Department & presented programs for Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. In past, she has served as a Teaching Artist with Virginia Commission of Arts & Young Audiences of Virginia.
Priti's Bharatanatyam Journey and her Gurus
Having initiated in Bharatanatyam @ Kalasadan in Mumbai, India, Priti resumed learning from Smt. Uma Chetty, Artistic Director of Apsaras Arts Dance Group in Richmond, VA. After teaching at Apsaras Arts Dance Group for 15+ years, she founded Kalāsattva in 2021.
During this journey, Priti has been fortunate to learn from legends like Padmabhushan Natyacharya duo Smt. Shanta & Shri V P Dhananjayan, and Smt. Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar.
Priti has been inspired by Smt. Sucheta's Marathi book "Nrityatmika" & volunteered to translated it in English.
This book was published by the hands of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar on Dec 06, 2018 in Pune during "Parikrama" festival. It has received international accolades.
"What an eye opener esp. for those who want to attain an in depth understanding about Bharatanatyam… this is a must read for all BN dancers.... A perfect all encompassing book in a capsule form for the ardent students and Rasikas alike!"
